United Tobacco, said to be the largest producer of counterfeit cigarettes, has had its license revoked.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada's Finance Committee, MP Danylo Hetmantsev, announced the revocation of the license of the symbol of counterfeit tobacco and corruption. According to the information UNNWe are talking about United Tobacco, which has repeatedly become the subject of investigations by both law enforcement and journalists.
"Today, the symbol of counterfeit tobacco and corruption lost its license. Because stealing excise taxes from the army and pensioners, especially during a war, is the last resort, and we won't let anyone do it. The corrupt court decisions have been overturned (we'll deal with the authors later), and the tax officials who covered up this 'business' have been fired. Never again!" the MP wrote.
Getmantsev thanked the leadership of the State Tax Service and the team of the Department of Excisable Goods "for their consistent, principled, and, most importantly, incorruptible position aimed at restoring order to the tobacco market."
Although the MP's statement did not name the company, UNN has learned that it is United Tobacco, whose production facility is located in Zhovti Vody, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Getmantsev previously stated that tobacco manufacturers operating in Zhovti Vody continue the "vicious practice of failing to pay excise taxes to the army, which absolutely justifiably leads to the cessation of their illegal, anti-people activities."
