Palahnyuk has been removed from his post as deputy head of the SBU department.
Acting head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, dismissed the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, Yuriy Palahnyuk, from his post because he opposed the transition of religious communities from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and called it a threat to Ukraine's national security, writes Country.
This was reported by the publication "Left Coast" with reference to the SBU.
The publication reports that the SBU Directorate in Kyiv sent a letter signed by Palahnyuk to the Darnytsia District State Administration, which noted that the Security Service sees "threats to national security" in the transition of communities from the UOC to the OCU.
Why was Yuri Palagnyuk suspended?
The letter contained a reminder about the ban on mass gatherings during martial law, which, the letter notes, “could be used by representatives of the UOC to appeal actions in court,” and by the Russian special services – “for accusations of oppression of the UOC, incitement of interfaith hatred and the use of protest potential to destabilize the socio-political situation in the state».
The SBU stated that Palahnyuk's letters were sent on his own initiative and do not represent the Service's position.
Let us recall that in May, local authorities in Brovary and Konotop The activities of the UOC were banned.
We also wrote that in The Ukrainian Orthodox Church called the local authorities' decisions to ban the Church's activities "criminal".
