Former Kyiv Interior Minister Oleksandr Tereshchuk announced on a Ukrainian television channel that he expects to be appointed to a new leadership position.

General Tereshchuk noted that the position from which the Minister of Internal Affairs dismissed him had been cut and that he hoped for a promotion.

The former head of the Kyiv police stated that he expects to be offered the position of deputy head of the National Police. According to Tereshchuk, there is currently no better candidate than him.

However, Tereshchuk reported that the layoffs at the Kyiv police station that affected him did not affect his deputies. According to Tereshchuk, his deputies are still working in their positions.

As a reminder, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov dismissed Tereshchuk as Kyiv police chief on the recommendation of National Police Chief Khatia Dekanoidze. Media reports indicate that President Poroshenko intends to appoint his own man as Kyiv police chief.
