The head of the Accounts Chamber, Valeriy Patskan, submitted a letter of resignation. However, he soon withdrew it. Earlier, on October 24, he was charged by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) with illegally receiving housing compensation while serving as a member of parliament, writes Columnist.

In turn, Voice MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said: On November 16, the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee was supposed to vote on Patskan's application. However, he withdrew it.
«The Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee was scheduled to meet today to vote on the dismissal of V. Patskan from his position as Chairman of the Accounts Chamber. The intrigue is that the dismissal was later withdrawn. The Committee's quorum was not reached. The meeting did not take place."," he said.

On November 16, the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee was scheduled to vote on accepting Patskan's application.
What preceded
On October 24, the NABU and SAPO served Patskan with a notice of suspicion for illegally receiving 117,65 hryvnias in housing compensation from the Ukrainian state budget. The funds were allocated through the Verkhovna Rada budget, as the accused was a member of parliament at the time of the offense. As a result, he faces up to three years in prison.
«In September 2017, [the suspect] submitted an application to the Verkhovna Rada Office for monthly compensation for the cost of renting an apartment or a hotel room. However, by the time he submitted this application, the MP already owned a habitable apartment in a new building in Pechersk, Kyiv."," the NABU reported.
Patskan himself stated that he considers the suspicions unfounded. Specifically, he asserts that the apartment in Pechersk was uninhabitable, and therefore the compensation was legally awarded.
